Los ganadores se anunciaron en actualizaciones minuto a minuto por Internet luego de que la NBC no transmitiera el evento por señalamientos de falta de diversidad en el jurado. A esto se sumó la cancelación de diversos actores que dejaron de manifiesto su descontento por el mismo motivo y un posible conflicto de interés entre los jueces, quienes han recibido costosos regalos por parte de propietarios y empresas ligadas al cine. La Asociación está conformada por 400 periodistas especializados en televisión, radio y medios online, quienes desde hace 27 años votan para elegir lo más destacado del año. Tradicionalmente, se considera a los Critics Choice como la predicción más certera de las nominaciones del Premio Óscar
En días pasados se dio a conocer que las nominaciones a los Critics Choice TV Awards, es liderada por Succession y Mare of Easttown ambas de HBO. La ceremonia de entrega de premios se celebrará el domingo 9 de enero de 2022 en el Fairmont Century Plaza, con Taye Diggs y Nicole Byer como anfitriones de la gala, y emisión en vivo a través de TBS en los Estados Unidos.
